Each tile is supplied with established plant coverage, grown on 60mm of 100% recycled growing media. Unlike a Brown Wildflower roof, the evergreen sedums continue to thrive year-round, ensuring your roof remains green, attractive, and full of seasonal interest.
Vegetation: Each GrufeTile is pre-grown with a carefully balanced mix of 20–30 wildflower and meadow grass varieties alongside 8–12 sedum species. The sedums are hardy, low-growing evergreens that thrive year-round with minimal care, while the wildflowers provide bursts of seasonal colour and biodiversity.
Soil (Substrate): The growing medium is a specialised substrate developed specifically for GrufeTiles to optimise plant health, drainage, and water retention. Custom mixes can also be prepared to suit unique planting schemes or project requirements.
Carrier: The base carrier is manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene, designed to act as a water reservoir and drainage layer, while protecting roots from excessive drying. Its unique cup structure also improves handling, making installation easier and more efficient.
Installation: Each GrufeTile features a double-action coupling system. Tabs along the tile edges interlock seamlessly with adjacent tiles, ensuring a secure fit and straightforward installation—no specialist tools required.
